The organizer of the professional volleyball tournament that stopped in Milwaukee last weekend was thrilled with the visit and said it’s a “no-brainer” that the tour will be back.
“It was probably the best one we’ve done,” said Donald Sun, managing partner of the Association of Volleyball Professionals for the last two years.
The AVP Milwaukee Open took place Thursday through Sunday, during Summerfest and a holiday weekend. But Sun estimates it still drew about 20,000 over the four-day event. The tour last visited in 1998.
“People were on the bridge (over Lincoln Memorial Drive) 100 yards away looking in,” he said. “It was electric.”
